Experience the authentic beauty of southern Morocco at your own pace with a completely private tour designed around your preferences. Unlike group tours with fixed schedules, this 6-day journey through Morocco’s southern oases, kasbahs, and desert landscapes is tailored specifically to you, whether you’re a couple seeking romantic adventure, a family wanting flexibility, or friends exploring together.

This private tour takes you beyond the typical tourist circuit into Morocco’s captivating southern region, where the High Atlas Mountains meet the Sahara Desert. You’ll travel through dramatic landscapes of arid desert valleys punctuated by lush green oases, ancient kasbahs perched on hillsides, and towering sand dunes that seem to glow at sunset.

What Makes This Tour Private & Fully Customizable:

Every Atlas Maroc Services tour is private by design—you never share your vehicle or guide with strangers. Your dedicated English-speaking driver-guide travels exclusively with your group throughout the 6 days, allowing you to:

  • Adjust the pace: Want to spend an extra hour photographing the Dades Gorge? Interested in skipping a particular stop to have more time in the desert? Your itinerary flexes to match your interests.
  • Choose your accommodation: We suggest carefully selected hotels, riads, and desert camps at various price points. Prefer luxury riads throughout? Budget-conscious guesthouses? You decide.
  • Modify daily routes: The 6-day itinerary below is our recommended route based on years of experience, but it’s a starting point. We regularly customize tours to add photography-focused stops, visit women’s cooperatives, include hiking in the Atlas Mountains, or adjust based on mobility needs.
  • Travel at your rhythm: Early risers can start days sooner to maximize sightseeing time. Prefer leisurely mornings? We adjust departure times accordingly. Need a rest day? We can incorporate downtime at a particularly scenic location.

Who This Tour Suits:

This private southern Morocco circuit is perfect for travelers who value:

  • Flexibility over rigid schedules – No rushing to keep pace with large groups
  • Privacy and comfort – Your own vehicle, your own guide, your own conversations
  • Cultural depth – Time to actually connect with locals, not just photograph them
  • Personalized attention – A guide who learns your interests and adapts the experience
  • Quality over quantity – Experiencing fewer places more deeply rather than checking boxes

Best Time to Travel: February through April and October through November offer ideal temperatures (15-25°C / 59-77°F) for exploring southern Morocco. Summer months (June-August) see extreme heat (40°C+), though we can adjust itineraries for shade and cooler mountain routes if you’re traveling in summer.

For travelers considering other Morocco experiences, our Sahara Desert tours focus more on the classic Erg Chebbi dunes via the faster Marrakech-Merzouga route, while this southern circuit emphasizes the less-visited oasis culture of the Draa Valley and Zagora region.

It comes as no surprise that among all other crenulated offerings, Ait Benhaddou became the favorite filming location of many Hollywood directors. Lawrence of Arabia was filmed here, Orson Welles used it as a location for Sodom and Gomorrah and for the epic Jesus of Nazareth.

The afternoon is dedicated to a guided visit to Marrakech… Nestled on a plain at the foot of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is one of the most alluring cities in Morocco, still surrounded by its original fortifications. The heart of the old town is the Jamaa el Fna square, the huge main square where everything happens: from morning to night it throngs with life, orange, and date sellers ply their trade from stalls, traditional water sellers wander around, snake charmers, musicians, acrobats, and storytellers come and go to please the crowds. And, as night falls, food stalls appear as if by magic, and you can sit down and feast on freshly cooked local dishes. Yet Marrakech has many faces and you will explore the historic Medina of the Almohads, the majesty of the Bahia Palace along with the more modern boulevards and cafes of the French new town.
This visit begins with a guided tour of the Bahia Palace one of the city’s architectural jewels…
We will then proceed to discover the Koutoubia mosque and square, the symbol of the city of Marrakech…
After that we will meander through the souks and medina with our tour guides…to take a first-hand look at the real face of life inside the old medina which has not changed much since the middle ages; the neighborhoods still inhabited by locals, the souks where people of the medina still do their daily shopping and the various and very skilled craftsmen …the materials they use, their shops, tools and much more…
Then continue through Marrakech’s narrow labyrinth streets to one of the Jamaa el Fnaa square’s terraces with an amazing view, taste a mint tea and discover this meeting point of different artists such as musicians, storytellers, and snake charmers.
